In essence, the paint will actually flex and yield more. instead of remaining solid and polishing like marble or glass, however, these new high-tech paints are more sensitive to soaps, waxes and polishes. They have a tendency to streak, and because they are more flexible, they feather-scratch very easily.

18 Important Facts to Know About the

All-New DRI WASH 'n GUARD® ULTRA-ION™

As one of the most significant product introductions in the history of Waterless Technology, it is important that you understand as much as possible about DWG ULTRA-ION™. Please study these important points, and order some of this amazing product today. You'll be blown away by the results!

I have been getting a number of inquiries about the DRI WASH 'n GUARD® ULTRA-ION™. Questions like, how long does it last, how many times do you put it on the surface, can you wipe it off using a terry cloth towel or do you need a buffing towel between applications? So let's get a little clarification on these.

The first time that ULTRA-ION™ is used, what happens is that it puts ions all over the surface of the vehicle and it starts to remove the impurities on the surface and the residual effects of the elements such as smog or salt or anything that basically has started settling into the painted surface of the clear coat. So the first application does that.

The second application actually bonds the ions with the first application but at the same time it removes even further any impurities that are on that paint or clear coat. So the first application is important to begin the "ion cleaning" process and the second time should probably be done for best results within 2 weeks to a month.

The third time the product is applied, what starts to occur is that it puts up a strong resistance to the elements and the vehicle surface by the third time has probably reached it's maximum appearance of what you are going to get for it's shine and what you are going to get in residual value for keeping the elements off the surface, whether it is bird droppings, bugs or whatever might come along. So that process of the three applications probably should be done for the best results over about 4 to 6 weeks.

The fourth application and thereafter leaves the vehicle clean again but the good thing is that once you have applied the fourth application then in between applications you can take a lightly damp cloth, and it depends on what's on the surface of the vehicle, but if it just ran through rain you can take that damp cloth and it could be either a clean terry cloth towel or the DWG Buffing Towel and lightly wipe down the surface without using any pressure. Then what you would do is take a DWG Buffing Towel, not a Terry Cloth towel and again, without using pressure lightly rub the surface removing the excess water from the wipe down.

But you need to understand that to do this process you have to be very, very certain that there are no granules on the surface whatsoever. Because you need to remember that when you apply DWG whether it be CLASSIC or the ULTRA-ION™ you are emulsifying the dirt on the surface, you are breaking down the impurities that are on the surface of your vehicle. So when you are just trying to "dust" it off you don't have anything breaking down those same impurities so if the surface has sediment or anything similar on it you will need to DRI WASH 'n GUARD™ it again. A good rule of thumb is to take an inconspicuous spot, wipe it lightly and if every thing comes off the surface and it's smooth to the touch with your fingers then that's good. But, if for some reason there is any residual of dust, dirt or anything else DO NOT wipe it off with a damp towel, do not wipe it off with the buffing towel...reapply DRI WASH 'n GUARD® to the surface again.

For the newer paint jobs beginning in 2000 you will get better results with the ULTRA-ION™ in using this process. When you have lacquer paints or paints without clear coats on them or paints that have enamel on it then the best product would be the CLASSIC.

The next question is, how often should I use ULTRA-ION™ or CLASSIC? The first thing about ULTRA-ION™ is that it will definitely last longer on the surface of the vehicle than the CLASSIC product. The ions just have more of a residual benefit of protecting the surface. If a vehicle was done 3 or 4 times than it probably could be said that it could last up to a year as far as having that same residual benefit but it does not give full protection. 6 months, well that is even better because obviously you are getting the elements deteriorating the product over a period of time.

But how often should you really do it? When your car is dirty, instead of using water to wash the vehicle use either the ULTRA-ION™ or the CLASSIC. DO NOT keep rubbing the surface of your vehicle with the damp cloth and think that you don't have to reapply the product. A lot of this depends on the elements....is there a lot of smog in the air, have you been going through dust or is there a lot of dust or pollens in the air? Have you been going down a gravel road, have you been driving on a freshly tarred surface and you are getting tar on the side of your vehicle? You have to make the judgment yourself of how you feel the product is looking on the surface.

Again, here in Las Vegas we have dust in the air and in the summer time we have high heat and in the winter we have cold and windy temperatures but what we do is basically when the vehicle needs to be cleaned it is DRI WASH 'n GUARDed™. The preference is if the vehicle is a 2000 or newer model we use the ULTRA-ION™ and if it's an older paint you probably need to use the CLASSIC. Both work great there is just a difference in how the ions affect the newer paints compared to the molecules in the CLASSIC product. But again, it is an appearance factor and a feel of how that vehicle feels when rubbing your fingers across the surface. If it feels a little rough and it feels too dirty use the DRI WASH 'n GUARD® products and do not try to use the damp cloth to clean it and remember to always test the product first in an inconspicuous spot! After trying it look very carefully at that spot to make sure you are not putting feather scratches into the surface of the paint. If there is any foreign substance as I talked about earlier than you will run the risk of doing just that.

Just remember that always for best results use the product 3 or 4 times over a 6 week period and you will have a superior looking finish, it's going to last longer and when the surface gets too dirty just put some more DRI WASH 'n GUARD® on it and don't risk damaging your vehicles appearance!

“At high noon on a 100 degree day, I applied DWG ULTRA-ION™ to a jet black car with water spots. I wiped it gently and buffed to an incredible shine. The paint looked great - no swirl marks, no smudges - just jet black paint that looked wet! While we were in Michigan visiting some friends this summer, they asked Phil if he would take a look at their boat. The boat was white with a blue stripe and the stripe had oxidized to a gray white haze. We sprayed DWG ULTRA-ION™ on a small spot and rubbed slightly before buffing it off. Some of the oxidization was removed. So Phil tried it again and more of the oxidization came off. After two more applications and a little more rubbing the oxidization was gone and the stripe was blue again. Patty called us a couple of weeks later and she had cleaned the entire boat and was very happy.
